Broaching Machine

a metal cutting machine for working surfaces of various shapes with a tool known as a broach.

Used for working (broaching) internal and external surfaces, broaching machines are divided into those for general use and for special uses.

The working motion of such machines is the straight motion of the ram, which holds the broach, or of the item, if the broach is stationary.

Broaching machines are produced with either horizontal or vertical placement of the rams, which may number from one to six, and with single or multiple positions

A special group continuous broaching machines includes chain and rotary models.

The major parameters of broaching machines are the pulling capacity of the ram, which may reach 1 meganewton, and the stroke length of the ram, which may reach 2 m.

The cutting speed of general-purpose machines varies from 15 to 20 m/min and in special machines may reach 90 m/min.

The cutting speed in continuous machines ranges from 1.5 to 15 m/min.

The drive in these machines is usually hydraulic, but high-speed machines use electromechanical drive.

Broaching machines are used in mass production and in producing items in large lots. They provide high precision (classes 1–2) and low surface roughness on the worked surfaces (classes 8-10).

Vertical broaching machine has been thought for small medium production. It is characterized by its great versatility, reliability and fast setting up.

Its used for making small and big pieces. All kinds of broaching and different tolerances 2mm keyways from 2up to 25mm or 1”inch

Due to its way of use the keyway is always made with the required tolerance

Anyone can make a keyway, ther’s no need to be a skillful operative

The preparation time of the machine before making a broaching operation is approximately 1min

The machine can be moved easily next to a lathe or machining center while those machines work, the  same operative can make the broaching operation 

  

   HORIZONTAL BROACHING MACHINES

Horizontal broaching refers to the type of machine that is used to broach a piece part.

The machines used in this process were the first ones to be developed, and are still the most common of all. V W Broaching Service has a wide variety of these types of machines, each distinguished by its length of cut (a direct function of its total stroke) and tonnage.

Special broaching machines also fall under the general categories of internal or surface use, but beyond that it is difficult to classify the wide and often unique variety of special machines. Nevertheless, here is a sampling.
